Site Updates

Hey everyone,
You may have notiuced that lately the site has been changing a little bit. I'm reworking some of the pages in my spare time and I'm planning to add a section for information about Japan. Although I can't say that will exactly be a personal guide, it's still more convinient than not having one at all, right.

I have a Japanese test on Monday but maybe I'll be able to sneak in some time in between studying to work on the pages. Until then,

Happy Mother's Day!

Well, it's officially Mother's Day here in Tokyo. Come to think of it, this is my first Mother's Day away from Mom. It's a little hard to spend it together since we have the Pacific Ocean in between, but I'll try my best. So Mom....

Thanks!! You're the Best!

Japanese Slang Dictionary Version 1.0!

Japanese slang is definitely an interesting part of the language.

Usually when I get asked by people about Japanese, they ask about two things. First the greetings, and then the slang.

Well, to saturate their curiosity, I've created this page, the Japanese Slang dictionary. I've also included common colloquial terms as well as regular words that carry a double meaning....

Japan-San Myspace Page

Hey everyone,
I haven't had much time to update the site lately, but I did create a basic myspace page for the site. It's nothing special right now but I'll update it soon.

Anyway, I'm working on a page for Japanese honorifics (-san/-kun/-chan) right now and it should be up by next weekend or sooner depending on how school and such goes. As always I'm open to ideas for the site so if you have one go ahead and use the contact form and if it's good I'll do it!

Site Changes (From Lee)

Hey, it's Lee here. I'm in school now so I haven't had the time to update like before. Intensive Japanese is crazy. But don't worry, I'm still here, alive, and things are still going on behind the scenes.

As you might have noticed, a couple pages from the navigation bar disappeared. I'm reordering the site a bit so I can focus the site a bit more. At the moment, it's a bit difficult for me to cover all the aspects I want to and still maintain the quality that I expect. Eventually these pages will come back up with a lot of content. Until then I'll be expanding the customs, language, holidays and folklore. Lastly, I'm planning to add both a travel and Japanese literature section for old Japanese books with English translations. This is all for the better and it will allow me to update more.

Well, it's Sakura (cherry blossom) season now in Tokyo. This is my first time seeing them before, and I have to say I'm very impressed. It's like the whole city turns pink. It's quite a site.

I'm thinking about doing a small page on Sakura since I have so many pictures and their really beautiful. I'll try and get it done soon.

Back From Hokkaido (Amazing Trip!)

Well, I just got back today from my short trip up to Hokkaido. We went on a tour bus so we saw, ate, and played a lot in a really short time. But that is definitely a place to go. The seafood is delicious, the air is clean, the onsen are soothing, and so on and so on.

The first hotel we stayed at was absolutely amazing (it's the one where the people attending the G8 conference will be staying). While the second one wasn't as great, it still was decently nice.

I have too much to write about just to put it here, I think I might do a page on it later. Perhaps a "Japan-San Goes to Hokkaido" page. Hmmmm.....
