About Japan-San

Hi! I'm Lee, the owner and creator of Japan-San. I'm originally from Southern California and moved to Tokyo, Japan for college after I finished high school (without ever taking a Japanese course in my life). I'm having a great time too!

My Story

When I was in 3rd grade my family decided to host an exchange student from Japan through the University she was working at. Over the next few years we had a few more exchange students, some staying for as long as six months.

When I was 11, my family was invited to visit Japan and stay at each of our previous host students homes. Needless to say, it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. After that, though, we didn't have any more real exchange students so my interest died down a bit.

In high school I heard about a sister city exchange program that offered to take four high school students from my city to Tachikawa, Tokyo, Japan for a month during the summer to stay with a host family. My host brother, Sho, came back to America to stay with me for a month and then went back to Japan.

My senior year of high school I decided pretty much out of nowhere that it would be really cool to go to college in Japan. So, after asking Sho and researching on the internet, I decided to submit an application for International Christian University in Mitaka, Japan. I was accepted and eventually decided to go. Yep, that's it!

About Japan-San

As a college student, I suppose it's pretty normal to have free time on your hands. Wait...no, it's not. It just so happens that at my school there is a really long spring break, a time of freedom and relaxation. The story of Japan-San starts on one of these such vacations.

One day while messing around on the internet, as usual, I ran into this site called "Site Build It!". It was about giving tools to make websites and so on and so on. But being the dedicated, hard working, and open-minded college student I am (or wish I was), I took some time to read through the site and whatnot.

I dunno if it was the people saying it worked for them, or just the fact that I could get a website up pretty painlessly and focus on writing what I wanted to, the package drew me in. After a few days researching and nights thinking, I decided to purchase Site Build It.

I'm decent with computers, but I'm no programmer. Fortunately, Site Build It! had not only everything I needed to help brainstorm useful site concepts, but also gave me every tool i needed to get this site up. I think as long as you can read your e-mail you can make a website with Site Build It!

I resolved to not put another dollar into my website after purchasing it to see whether it really delivers or not. So far I'm very impressed.

Anyway, after doing all the research I needed for my site, I decided to finally purchase a domain name. For this, I was having a really hard time because most of the common ones are taken and I didn't really want to register hifivefreejapan.com or something like that. After consulting with my close friend Victor and girlfriend, I decided to register Japan-San.com. I haven't looked back since. I'm giving it my all so I hope you are enjoying it.

If you're looking into building your own website I personally recommend Site Build It!. This is a real package that gives you everything you need to build a thriving website, minus your brain and hard work that you supply yourself. There's nothing else like it on the internet. This isn't just any recommendation. I personally use it and I love it. At the very least check it out. Trust me, if you really want a website, it's your way to success.
